Dale Chihuly is a renowned glass sculptor. He is a man who overcame adversity when an automobile accident left him legally blind. He created a team of glass blowers and a studio in Seattle, and now his work is shown all over the world. Our class is helping to create a sculpture inspired by Mr. Chihuly using plastic water bottles, but the bottles had to be colored! So, our class of busy bees volunteered. We will be contributing 50 bottles to the sculpture. Thank you, fifth graders!
A friend of mine once commented, "Fifth grade is the senior year of childhood." I agree with her! Students of this age are exuberant, informed, curious, and some of them are very taken with finding themselves socially. It will be truly a wonderful year, and I feel fortunate to facilitate this grade level.
I think you will be amazed to watch the growth - physical, academic, and social - that unfolds throughout this year. (One year, the average number of inches that the students in my class grew was 6!) The Milford curriculum is well designed to meet the interests of this age level. We will embark on a variety of activities that I think your child will enjoy and from which he or she will benefit. Travel through our website for a sample of what's to come! Fifth grade is a special adventure. If, at any point along the way, you would like to talk with me or meet with me, please feel free to reach out at any time. E-mail: d[email protected] |
